John Gibbs – 10th August 2025

John has been a member of this church for many years, marrying his wife Stella here in the 1960’s.

He has actively supported the services and events here for decades, often running the raffle at our Coffee Mornings

and helping in every way he could.  John was a very sociable man who was well known in the St Neots area.

He met many people through his life and enjoyed sharing recollections of his days in the Navy with them.

We remember his wife Stella and his family in our prayers.

His funeral will be taking place at 11am on Friday 12th September at Roxton Chapel, giving everyone the opportunity to

give thanks for the life of a church member who will be greatly missed.  This will be followed by a commital at

Bedford Crematorium for family members. Refreshments will be served at Roxton Village Hall after the service.

Both the Chapel and Village Hall are on High Street, Roxton - see the 'Contact' page of this website for a map.

(Please note that roadworks at the Black Cat roundabout on the A1 are currently causing long delays in all directions).

‘Tot’ Pike - 7th August 2025

Before developing dementia Tot was an active and well loved member of the local communities at Tempsford and Wyboston.

Tot, whilst also caring for his late wife Freda, gave constant support to the services and events at Roxon Chapel - he was

often helping in the background, washing up etc.   His funeral will be taking place at the Chapel, giving folk the opportunity

to give thanks for his life, and remember his contribution to our communities.

Chapel Improvements

Those who often attend events at the Chapel will have noticed our new path, laid during June this year.

We have also had a ceiling repaired.  In addition to these, the external repainting of the doors and windows

has now been completed.   Please remember that all the work has had to be organised by those officials of the Church

who freely give their time.   We do hope that as many of you as possible will attend the events at the chapel, see

and appreciate the work that has been done, and thereby help Roxton keep it’s chapel.

Thank you

Joyce, Richard, Louise & family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, phone calls, letters

and the many cards which have been a great comfort.

The family also wish to thank all who took part in, and attended the thanksgiving service for Bernard's life

and for the donations made in his memory.  The service was very fitting for Bernard, acknowledging his contribution

to the life of the village and his exceptionally  generous commitment  to the restoration and maintenance

of the Chapel building and to the life of the Congregational Church here at Roxton.

Bernard Hooker

It is with sadness that we have to record the death of Bernard Hooker, Deacon, Treasurer and Administrator of our church.

Many of you will already be aware of the immense amount of work he has done over recent decades to ensure

the chapel has remained open to all as a place of Christian worship.  Not least the extensive restoration of the 1990's.

His commitment to the chapel has been second to none.  Bernard enjoyed his life in the village where he has lived

since the 1960's and his chats with many residents and visitors, often while tending to the Chapel garden.

He will be greatly missed by many, especially his family and the members and friends of the chapel.
